Kristen E. Winters, DPM

Dr. Kristen Winters has been practicing in Connecticut since 2000 following the completion of a two year surgical residency at The Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, CT. Now she is an attending there and is dedicated to training podiatric surgical residents and students in foot and ankle surgery. She has a special interest in podiatric sports medicine as her athletic background is extensive. Her involvement as a division one college athlete at The Pennsylvania State University, member of the U-21 United States national field hockey team and assistant coach of the Penn State women's field hockey team has naturally led her to now treat and rehabilitate athletes. Dr. Winters maintains active involvement with the Connecticut Podiatric Medical Association, has served on the executive board of the Johnson Surgical Center and enjoys lecturing throughout the podiatric medical community.

Laura C. Vander Poel, DPM

Dr. Laura Vander Poel has been practicing in Connecticut since 2012. She graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and then went for her doctorate at Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine. Dr. Vander Poel completed a three year residency at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, CT. During her tenure she was the Co-Chief resident and authored several research projects on bunion surgery and fixation techniques in podiatric surgery. Since then she has gone on for further training in Advanced Wound Care including hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Dr. Vander Poel also is actively involved in the training of the Podiatric Surgical Residents at St Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford. Dr. Vander Poel sees all types of medical and surgical patients in both South Windsor and Enfield.

Matthew J. Tschudy, DPM

Participated in surgical clinic at HCMC. Where patients present with all manners of forefoot, rearfoot and ankle pathology. Residents are responsible for developing pre operative plan and post operative care. ● Participated in Wound care clinic at Hennepin County Medical center. ● Participated in surgical and sports medicine clinic with 2 providers at Twin Cities Orthopedics. Residents assist in a high surgical volume clinic and in the operating room. Residents see a wide variety of pathology including forefoot, and rearfoot reconstruction, sports medicine and trauma of the foot and ankle. ● Operated with 7 Allina providers at United hospital and Abbott northwestern. Residents are responsible for developing a surgical plan and assisting in forefoot, rearfoot reconstruction, foot and ankle trauma. ● Managed complex diabetic foot wounds and infections as well as surgical wounds with surgical reconstruction, advanced wound care therapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and custom prosthetic fitting. ● 150+ days on call at a Level 1 Trauma Center, admitting and managing patients with both traumatic and infectious etiologies for 4 attendings associated with HCMC ● Completed medical and surgical rotations in the following departments: Vascular Surgery, Burn/Plastic surgery, Internal Medicine, Infectious Disease, Emergency Medicine, Dermatology, Rheumatology, Anesthesia, General Surgery and trauma, orthopedics ● Chief Resident 2018-2019, which entailed organizing training events between residents, attendings, and various company representatives for cadaver workshops, saw bone workshops, suture labs and weekly academics.

Rebecca M. Weisner, DPM

PodiatryCare is pleased to welcome back Dr. Rebecca M. Wiesner. Following completion of her residency, Dr. Wiesner joined PodiatryCare for a year and then relocated to Texas with her family where she spent the last 5 years in private practice . She is very excited to return to the PodiatryCare family and to her home state of Connecticut. Dr. Rebecca M. Wiesner graduated Magna cum Laude from Central Connecticut State University with a B.S. in Biology. She then earned her doctorate in Podiatric Medicine from Des Moines University in Des Moines, Iowa where she graduated in the top of her class and was inducted into the prestigious Pi Delta National Honor Society. While at Des Moines University, she was also awarded the Dwayne S. Rivard, DPM, Podiatric Surgery Award for academic and clinical excellence. Dr. Wiesner completed a three-year podiatric surgical residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital in 2015. Her training included all aspects of podiatric medicine, including reconstructive surgery of the foot and ankle, diabetic limb salvage and trauma. While at Yale, she received the Residency Excellence Award and served as chief resident during her final year.
